Top 10 Prospects for 2015 NFL Draft
With the draft done, it is time to wrap up NFL coverage until training camp. Here are a look at some of the top players in college next season who will be watched heavily as the 2015 NFL Draft comes around next year. Disclaimer: This will be my last NFL article until at least training camp, so I will not respond to any of the suggestions related to the subject of the National Football League.
1. Jameis Winston-QB-Florida State
While Winston’s character is in question, his talent is undeniable and obviously one of the best players going into next year. The Heisman Trophy winner will be looking to be the first player to repeat Heisman winner since Archie Griffin, a feat that a couple have tried and have not been able to accomplish. Famous Jameis should be the first player taken next year barring anything crazy.
2. Marcus Mariota-QB-Oregon
Mariota would be the first player taken almost any other year, and is even favored over Winston by a few scouts, but the general consensus is that Winston will go first. Mariota is a nice dual threat quarterback who will be a threat to win the Heisman next year in a dynamic Oregon offense that is a real treat to watch. All the confidence in the world that Mariota will be successful in the NFL.
3. Leonard Williams-DE-USC
Williams will be battling with Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory as the top defensive player in next years draft. I give Williams the slightest of edges and will immediately give a massive boost to a teams pass rush. Look for Williams to dominate the PAC-12 next year.
4. Randy Gregory-DE/OLB-Nebraska
Randy Gregory reminds me of a lesser version of Jadeveon Clowney, a versatile player who can fit multiple defensive schemes and will rack up sacks in a hurry. Gregory alone is a reason to turn into a Nebraska football game, a player is a threat to make a game changing play at any point.
5. Todd Gurley-RB-Georgia
This draft is loaded at the running back position, something that we have not seen in the past few years. Gurley will be the first of these running backs taken and is absolutely worthy of a top 10 pick. Watch out for Gurley on the Heisman Watch next season.
6. Andrus Peat-OT-Stanford
Many of the drafts in the past few years have been top heavy with offensive lineman, which is not the case this year. Peat is the top lineman going into next season and will make an impact in a teams running game right away.
7. Amari Cooper-WR-Alabama
Absolutely love this guy. I feel that Cooper would have been the top WR taken in this year’s NFL Draft and will certainly be the first one taken next year. Cooper may struggle a bit this year with A.J. McCarron moved on the the NFL and a new QB at the helm of the Crimson Tide.
8. Landon Collins-S-Alabama
Collins is one of the best safety prospects I have seen in awhile and has the talent of a top 5 pick. Collins will be the top playmaker on an Alabama defense that is always one of the best units in the country. This guy will be a game changer for whoever drafts him.
9. Cedric Ogbuhei-OT-Texas A&M
Ogbuhei has the talent to sneak into the top 5 and is the next in line in the recent surplus of great Texas A&M offensive lineman. He will improve the running game of any team right away and will be a mainstay in the league for sure.
10. Shilique Calhoun-DE-Michigan State
Calhoun was one of the top defensive players on the best unit in the country last season and helped lead the Spartans to a Rose Bowl victory. Look for Calhoun to be the top player on this years Spartan defense and be one of the top defensive prospects in next years draft.
